Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom Theme Park
On Expedition Everest guests ride aboard trains for an exploration through the Himalayas. Unfortunately, the Yeti, a legendary snow monster, is very protective of the mountain and is determined to keep humans off of it. Upon reaching a set of broken train tracks, riders are sent on a roller coaster ride around the mountain side with a final confrontation with the yeti himself.
In terms of a thrill factor, Expedition Everest is more intense than Big Thunder Mountain Railroad but not as intense as Rock ‘n Roller Coaster. There are no moments in the ride where guests travel upside-down. This will last around 3 1/2 minutes and the train will reach speeds in excess of 50 mph.
There is a 44″ minimum height requirement.

The Everest Expedition is part of the Genie Plus attractions. It was originally going to be part of the Individual Lightening Lane, but it was moved over to bolster the genie plus offering of rides.
When to Go:
Not surprisingly, Expedition Everest attracts huge queues all day long. To avoid the longest lines visit the first hour the park is open or in the last two hours before park closing.
Disney World Animal Kingdom Facts
- Make sure to absorb all of the detail in the queue as there are a lot of genuine artifacts taken from the Nepal region.
- Expedition Everest is 199 feet tall, the tallest “mountain” in Florida. It’s 199 feet, because any taller and it would need aircraft beacons, which would ruin the theming.
- The yeti Audio-Animatronic has more power than a 747 jet engine.
